Tyneside gardens pile up fast. A weekend cutting back hedges in Jesmond, levelling a lawn in Gosforth, or clearing a neglected yard in Felling, Gateshead, can leave more green waste than fits in the brown bin or a boot run to the household waste centre. We collect from the garden, back lane or driveway and take it to licenced disposal or recycling.

This page covers one-off garden clearances and landscaping leftovers across Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead and wider Tyne and Wear. You get a fixed quote before anything is loaded. No skip permit on the street, no repeated tip runs with a car full of soil.

Brown bin vs a garden clearance

Both Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council offer optional garden waste collections (the brown bin). They work well for regular hedge trimmings and grass cuttings if you subscribe and stay within what fits each fortnight. They are not designed for one-off clearances after a big tidy-up or landscaping job.

Typical jobs that outgrow the brown bin include:

You can take some garden waste to the household waste recycling centres yourself (Walbottle, Byker, and Gateshead's Campground tip are the usual options for Tyneside residents). That means loading your car, queuing, and making multiple trips if the job is big. Soil and rubble may be restricted or charged separately at the tip. A clearance team loads once and handles disposal for you.

What we clear

What we do not take

Most standard garden clearances are fine. Mention anything unusual when you call so we can confirm before the visit.

Access in Jesmond, Gosforth and Gateshead

Jesmond: many properties have long narrow gardens behind terraces, accessed through the house or a side gate. Permit parking on Osborne Road and Sandyford can make van positioning tricky. Mention whether waste is at the bottom of the garden and if the team needs to carry through the property.

Gosforth: larger detached and semi-detached houses often mean bigger gardens, driveways, and garage clear-outs alongside hedge work. Gosforth High Street itself is busy, so timing the arrival helps. See our Gosforth rubbish removal page for more local detail.

Gateshead: terrace yards in Bensham and Felling sit behind the house with tight back lanes. Semis towards Low Fell and Team Valley usually have driveways, which speeds loading for shed and fencing jobs. Crossing the Tyne does not add a surcharge. See Gateshead and Low Fell for area-specific notes.

Why use a clearance service instead of a skip?

Skips need a council licence on many Newcastle and Gateshead streets, sit outside your property for days, and you still do the loading. We turn up, load, and leave. For smaller jobs that is often cheaper and faster. For big landscaping projects we quote van loads upfront so you know the cost before we start.

No street permit

Useful on terraced streets in Heaton, Walker, and Bensham where skip bays are awkward to arrange.

We do the loading

Soil, branches, and fencing panels are heavy. The crew carries from the garden, yard, or back lane.

Fixed price agreed first

Quote from a description or photos. Price confirmed before loading starts.

Licensed disposal

Waste goes through registered carriers. A waste transfer note is available if you need one.

Garden waste removal costs

Garden jobs vary from a few bags of cuttings to a full shed strip-out with soil and rubble. Volume, weight, and access all affect the quote. A small hedge trim in a Gosforth driveway costs less than clearing a terraced yard in Jesmond where everything must be carried through the house.

We give a free quote before we load and agree a fixed price on the day. No online price list, because a photo or quick description gives a more accurate figure than a generic range. Call 07426 748278 or use the form below.

Same-day slots are often available if you call before noon Monday to Saturday. Useful when a patio dig or fence replacement has left the garden unusable and you need it cleared before the weekend.

Garden waste FAQ

Can you take soil from a patio or driveway dig?

Yes. Soil and turf are common on landscaping jobs across Tyne and Wear. Heavy loads are quoted on volume. Let us know roughly how much there is (wheelbarrow loads, bags, or a rough area) when you call.

Do I need to bag the garden waste first?

No. Bagged waste is fine, but we can also load loose cuttings, branches, and soil direct from the garden or yard. If access is through the house, mention that so the crew can plan dust sheets or a clean route.

Can you clear a shed as well as the garden?

Yes. Shed strip-outs are a regular job, especially on semis in Gateshead and Low Fell with a garage and shed at the bottom of the garden. We remove contents and can take broken timber and mixed junk alongside green waste in one visit.

Is garden waste cheaper than a house clearance?

Usually yes, because there is less to move and access is often simpler. A few bags of hedge trimmings from a driveway will cost less than a full property clearance. We still quote each job individually rather than guessing.
